To the Sea Lyrics

Drive south to the castle and east to the bay,

Go early in the morning and the sun guides the way,

Roads rise and fall, all the way to the coast,

Twisting and turning, just like life itself,

Trees mark the route, shaped by the wind,

Punctuating the journey, all the way to the end,

My favourite stretch is where the hedge lines the road,

In summer it’s green, in the winter a copper glow,

As the road narrows there’s a view-point - on your left,

Over-looking the harbour, looking at its natural best,

I’m reminded of a song about a “highway’,

“Where the days are longer and the nights are stronger than moonshine”

You feel a tingle when you first see the sea,

Reaching out as far as can be seen,

On arrival in the dunes, walk through to the beach,

Take off your shoes, feel the sand under you feet,

You decide where to spend your time,

Whatever you do it will be sublime,

It will be sublime. It will be sublime.
